WWE athletes have to endure rigorous training and sometimes fight through ongoing injuries and even medical conditions. Recent WWE Hall of Fame inductee Dave Bautista opened up on Twitter about his battle with asthma and how he had to adapt in certain situations.
“I’m an asthmatic,” Bautista tweeted. When a fan asked if he ever had an asthma attack during a match, the six-time world champion responded that he had to be ready and had a method of coping.
Bautista, who goes by the simplified Batista in the ring, retired from in-ring activity last year after his match with Triple H at WrestleMania 35. With a career that spanned over 20 years, Bautista has had his share of championships and accolades, including PWI’s Wrestler of The Year in 2005. He’s concentrated more of his energy and focus on acting in recent years, turning out now iconic performances as Drax in the MCU’s Guardian of the Galaxy franchise.
Bautista’s next role was scheduled to be Glossau Rabban in Dennis Villeneuve’s Dune, but that has been pushed back to late next year. He will also replace Andre the Giant in the Home Movie version of The Princess Bride, coming later this year.
