All of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s income streams – Netflix deal to books

Royals fans have been curious about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's income ever since the couple stepped away from the royal family in 2020 claiming to have "become financially independent".

The pair are no longer working royals, which means they're free to make their own income in addition to their existing personal wealth.

While Prince Harry has fortunes left to his name by his mother – the late Princess Diana – and great-grandmother the Queen Mother, Meghan has earned sizeable wealth from her acting days

But how do the Duke and Duchess of Sussex earn all their money? Here's a look at all their income streams.

Harry and Meghan's Netflix deal

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have signed a number of deals for large sums of money, reportedly even in the millions.

One these multi-million-pound deals include producing a Netflix series.

The pair plan to make several programmes, including a documentary about the Invictus Games, which Harry created in 2014 for service women and men.

The couple also plan to make an animated children's series about the adventures of a young girl, encouraged by influential women of history.

Meghan Markle's books

The Duchess of Sussex has also written a children's book called The Bench, which quickly became a New York Times bestseller.

Inspired by a poem that Meghan wrote for Harry after having their son Archie, the book is about a father and son relationship and how love takes many different forms in modern families.

Although believed all profit is to go to charity, Harry is also writing a tell-all memoir explaining all of his endeavours since childhood.

It's been reported that his deeply personal book is likely to be published by the end of this year.

  • Meghan Markle 'really p***ed off' about royal exit as William warned of 'more drama'

Meghan acted as an executive producer for her first episode of her podcast on Spotify, called Archetypes, which dropped on August 23.

The podcast aims to cover topics of societal stereotypes about women.

Her first guest was tennis champ and close friend Serena Williams, who chatted with the duchess about the double standard women face when they’re labelled “ambitious”. They also discussed the effect of this on their reputation as women in the limelight.

Meghan and Harry's investments

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced a partnership with a sustainable investment firm called Ethic last October.

The firm only invests in companies that are deemed to have acceptable environmental and social goals, by friends.

Dealbook interviewed the couple with Meghan revealing: "From the world I come from, you don’t talk about investing right? You don't have the luxury to invest. That sounds so fancy. My husband has been saying for years, 'Gosh, don't you wish there was a place where if your values were aligned like this, you could put your money to that same sort of thing?'"

It is no secret that prior to her royal life Meghan Markle was a successful star in the series Suits, an American legal drama, where she played the motivated and kind-hearted Rachel Zane for seven seasons.

Blogs and fashion

Meghan Markle is certainly not just a pretty face; she ran a lifestyle blog called The Tig up until her relationship with Harry went public, where she wrote about her aspirational lifestyle like travelling, also sharing food recipes and yoga practices.

Not only this but the princess has also created a clothing line for Canadian brand Reitmans. She was involved in both the designing and modelling of the range.
