A teenage boy was stabbed in the shoulder outside of a school in south east London this afternoon, after a man allegedly got off a bus and started attacking people.

Police were called to reports of a man armed with a knife in Plumstead and found the boy, believed to be 16, with a stab wound.

No arrests have been made and the boy is not in a life threatening condition.

The attack took place outside Plumstead Manor School, which was briefly locked down.

Taking to social media, witnesses said they saw stunned students running away in terror and shouting ‘he’s got a knife’.

The school said in a statement: ‘There has been an incident outside of school today in the local area which the police attended and has now been resolved.

‘Staff and students responded brilliantly to ensure everyone’s safety and we would like to thank all parents and carers for their understanding and co-operation.

‘We will update the school community when we have more information.

‘School will be open as normal tomorrow.’
