Brit mum stabbed to death in own home on Boxing Day as daughter screamed ‘help’

A British mum has been killed after being stabbed in the heart in her own home on Boxing Day (December 26).

Two boys, 17, have been charged for the alleged incident in Brisbane, Australia, which claimed the life of 41-year-old Emma Lovell.

Her husband, Lee Lovell, has now returned to the scene for the first time since the stabbing and has expressed his “devastation” at the “senseless” act of violence.

Speaking to the Courier Mail he said: “Emma was the glue to my family she was such a beautiful person.

“We are all just devastated by her loss, it’s senseless.”

The boys are alleged to have entered Emma’s house and a confrontation is understood to have taken place at 11:30pm on Boxing day.

Four people have been taken into custody, according to District Officer for Moreton Police District, Superintendent John Hallam, with the two 17-year-old boys charged with one count of murder each.

They are due to appear in Brisbane Children's Court. Both have been denied bail.

A 16-year-old and 17-year-old boy continue to assist police enquiries, reports .

Superintendent Hallam told reporters that the Lovell family attempted to defend themselves following the alleged entry.

Lee received a non-life-threatening injury, while Emma, originally from Ipswich, was fatally wounded in her front garden.

Superintendent Hallam said: “Those (boys) fled the scene.

“They’ve disturbed the residents inside the dwelling, who were woken up by what I’m told were barking dogs.”

He said that police had had “prior contact” with all four of the people taken into custody, but didn’t elaborate on whether the other two were children.

Neighbours in the North Lakes neighbourhood are understood to have heard Emma's daughter screaming, saying: "someone help my mum, help my mum".

Investigation into the incident are ongoing.

He said: “The family is absolutely traumatised and shattered.

“They’ve lost their mother and wife, the whole community is in mourning as well.

“We will continue to offer support moving forward.”

AGoFundMehas since been organised for the family.
