Daybreak on Channel 2 is getting a new weekday morning co-anchor: Katie Orth will join KWGN and begin working on May 17.
Coming from Midland, Texas, Orth will partner with Chris Parente from 4:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. on weekday mornings.
“I am so excited to sit beside Chris Parente, Ken Clark and Chris Tomer and join this great morning crew in Denver,” Katie said in a press release from the station. “Chris is not only a great journalist, but he makes mornings fun, and I know we will make a great team that viewers will turn to.”
Orth comes to work mornings in Denver after serving as an evening anchor since 2017. She did mornings before for a station in San Angelo, Texas and had previously worked in College Station, Texas, where she went to school at Texas A&M.
“Katie is a perfect fit for the Daybreak team. She’s an exceptional storyteller and journalist who can really connect to an audience,” news director Brian Gregory said in the release. ” I think viewers will enjoy her friendly and personable style, the team of Chris and Katie will bring real energy to the ‘Daybreak’ broadcast.”
Natalie Tysdal had been Parente’s partner on Daybreak but left KWGN after 20 years working in the market. Tysdal now has a podcast and is doing reports on YouTube.
