Coca-Cola makes change to its Christmas truck tour amid fear of another lockdown

Coca-Cola's famous Christmas truck will not tour as normal due to fears of a fourth lockdown.

The Daily Star revealed on Tuesday that "holidays are coming" and the iconic red vehicle will be back on the road in the UK for the first time in two years this festive season.

But despite current coronavirus measures not blocking Coca-Cola's Christmas truck tour, the company says it is planning ahead in case that changes.

According to an insider, "things will be a little bit different" this year meaning dates of visits will not be released until closer to the time.

A source told the Daily Star: “The team behind the amazing truck tour understand that everyone is really keen the truck comes to their town because people love it.

“But it has been an unprecedented year and because of this, things will be a little bit different.

“There won’t be a long list of dates announced at once.

“Locations are still being finalised and will be announced region by region when they are confirmed and people will still have enough time to plan their visit."

Fans were told by Coca-Cola on Twitter earlier this week to keep an eye of for news of whether the 'holidays are coming' jingle would be heard across the country this Christmas.

Our source has confirmed the truck will be out to spread festive joy, but the drinks giant refuses to jump the gun and potentially leave Brits disappointed.

They continued: “This is so people are not left disappointed if there were to be further Government restrictions.

“The truck attracts a lot of interest and it’s important people feel safe and and happy.

“Coca-Cola want to be able to give everyone that Christmas magic.

“This Christmas is more important than any other year and they don’t want people to feel let down so we need to make sure everything is right.”

The Coca-Cola Christmas truck tour locations are always a topic eagerly anticipated by fans, as they want the chance to be able to see the festive trailer for themselves.

What is encouraging is there could be even more truck destinations than ever before, as Coca-Cola said on social media: "We update our route every year to make sure we include more and more locations. We hope we get to see you!"

After last year's cancellation, Coca-Cola tweeted: "We know it's disappointing, but we'll continue to share special Christmas moments throughout the festive season. We look forward to seeing you next year!"
