Fury after ‘black children made to wait for food as white kids eat’ at nursery

Parents have accused a day care centre of racism after white children were apparently fed before black kids.

They claim they watched a livestream video which allegedly showed it happening at the venue in Roswell in Georgia, US.

Black youngsters at the Kids 'R' Kids location appeared to be waiting while white kids were served their food first, they claimed.

One dad said he saw it happen after he checked in to see his two-year-old son this week and took a screenshot.

The screenshot showed youngsters sat at a table – some with nothing in front of them, whereas others had plates.

Adryan McCauley told CBS46: “They were skipping all of the black kids it seemed like.

“All the white kids got their lunch, and all the black kids had to wait.

“From the videos and pictures that we saw today, we are just completely disturbed.”

He said the boy’s mum went and picked him up straight away and confronted the staff.

But he claimed the director told her: “I'm not really sure because I'm not in the classroom, maybe it's a dietary thing.”

An Instagram post sharing the screenshot said: “This is truly unbelievable.

“Why does every white kid have their food? Not one black child has food in front of them!

“Thank God for cameras in classrooms because there is no way to hide this racism!

“In the year 2021 this is truly unbelievable.”

After the footage came to light, Kids 'R' Kids said it had terminated the Roswell franchise – leaving it to operate independently.

A statement from the firm’s boss David Vinson said: “The interactions captured on video by one of our families, yesterday, is disturbing and not in accordance with the inclusive culture that we promote at Kids ‘R’ Kids amongst our families, their children or our staff.

“After further review and much consideration of the photo/video in question, our company has decided to terminate that franchisee’s Kids ‘R’ Kids contract and branding, effective immediately, leaving them to operate independently."

He added: “We apologise to the family, the community and all of those impacted by this situation and will use this as a learning tool to remind our Kids ‘R’ Kids staff on the importance of diversity and inclusivity.

“As a result of this decision, our corporate office will assist any displaced families with locating preschool options in their respective area.”
