Husband shoots wife for honking car horn outside home to get him to hurry up

A man allegedly shot his wife after she honked the horn of her truck, urging him to come to the vehicle so they could leave.

Police responded to a report of a shooting in Pueblo County, Colorado, shortly before 10pm (local time) on Friday (December 30).

According to a statement from the Pueblo County Sheriff's Office, deputies found a 56-year-old woman sitting in a truck with a gunshot wound to her leg.

She was treated by police until medical personnel arrived and transported her to hospital.

Eric Bramschreiber, 55, was arrested for illegal discharge of a firearm, second-degree assault and felony menacing after the alleged attack on his wife.

Police learned that the couple had driven to the property where the incident took place to discuss Bramschreiber purchasing a vehicle.

Bramschreiber went into a trailer on the property while his wife waited in their truck. She told police that she began sounding her horn after around 30 minutes, urging her husband to return to the car so they could leave.

A witness told police that Bramschreiber then came out and fired three shots, with one hitting his wife in the leg.

Bramschreiber allegedly denied the shooting and said he didn't have a gun, but a search of the trailer uncovered two handguns.

He reportedly remains at Pueblo County Jail where he is being held on a $50,000 (£42,000) bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on January 12.

Police also arrested Cindy Barker, 45, who they found inside the trailer. Her charges were outstanding, unrelated warrants and included failure to appear, contempt of court and being a fugitive of justice.
