An elderly man in New Hampshire was bitten by a rabid bat that was hiding in his iPad case, a report said on Wednesday.
Roy Syvertson sat down to use the device in his living room last Thursday when flying, furry creature unveiled itself, according to WMUR-TV.
“It felt like a little bee sting,” Syvertson said about when he tried to close the iPad case.
“I looked, and the bat was coming out of here, between the cover and the back of the pad.”
The 86-year-old man then attempted to contain the animal and relocate it to a safer location outside his house.
“I got up, still squeezing it, which I’m sure he wasn’t happy about, and I took him outside,” he said.
“When I got up in the morning, he was still there, and I thought he was all right.”
The bat was determined to be rabid after being tested. Syvertson went to a hospital for treatment.
The man was recovering and joked, “It was good thing I didn’t decide to cuddle him a little.”
