A man punched a cop in the face outside Washington Square Park over the weekend — and the NYPD released a photo Sunday of the suspect.
“WANTED for ASSAULT: Do you know this guy?” the Police Department wrote on Twitter above the picture.
The officer was struck in the mouth around 3 a.m. Saturday in front of 23 Washington Square Park, police said. The attacker then fled.
The cop was left with cuts inside his mouth and on his hand, police said.
The same suspect also slashed the tire of an NYPD vehicle, police sources said.
There was another scuffle in the Greenwich Village park around midnight when cops tried to disburse a group of about 200 people who refused to leave as the officers tried to close it, police sources said.
Some people in the group threw glass bottles and bricks at the officers, but it wasn’t clear if the wanted man was involved, sources said.
