Paedo dad who molested three young daughters to spend just six months in prison

A paedophile dad who sexually abused his three young daughters has been jailed for just six months following his horrific crimes.

The dad, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was jailed on Wednesday, October 14, after pleading guilty to eight counts of indecent treatment of the girls while they were aged between five and 13.

One of his victims said the man, who is 63 and from Queensland, Australia, had given her a life sentence "filled with pain, anger, sadness, self-loathing, fear, distrust and hate".

She added: "But the part of the sentence that hurts the most is the loss of a father, that I will never have again … Daddy, why, why did you do this to me, your little girl?"

The woman sobbed as she told her father he is a "sick man" who was able to live a relatively normal life while she was left picking up the pieces of the mess he created.

"I have fought hard to have you punished for this crime against me and my two sisters," she said.

Another daughter said the man took away her innocence, dignity and self-worth.

"A childhood should be filled with happiness, fun and loving memories," she told the court.

"Unfortunately for me that was not the case. It was about fear, pain, anger and not knowing when the abuse would stop.

"I have been through so much heartache and pain to become the person I am today because of the damage that has been done to me.

"Will I ever be able to move forward? I try every day."

The sexual assaults occurred over five years from 1984 when the girls' mum regularly went out on shiftwork, the court heard.

The girls courageously came forward and told their mother in 1989 and their father moved out of their home.

The assaults were first reported to police in 1991, but the father was only charged in December 2018.

The court heard the man admitted he committed the crimes and expressed remorse when he was confronted in the 1990s.

He also wrote to his daughters the day before the sentencing acknowledging the hurt, pain and damage he has caused.

Judge Julie Dick sentenced him to three years in jail for one count that involved digital penetration.

He was given a two-year prison sentence to be served concurrently for each of the other counts.

The sentence was suspended for three years after the man spends six months in jail.

Judge Dick told the man: "It's not how long I put you in jail for that's going to cause you grief, it's the fact that you are going to jail."
