Mr Morgan considers the US President a friend, but he might stoke the wrath of the incumbent Mr Trump after giving an unfavourable view of his leadership. The TV presenter attacked Mr Trump’s response to coronavirus, gender issues and the Black Lives Matter movement. He said: “I’ve made no secret that I’ve found his handling of the coronavirus crisis and the George Floyd killing and protests absolutely appalling.”

Mr Morgan’s outspokenness of Mr Trump’s coronavirus response led the US President to unfollow the presenter on Twitter earlier this year.

In a blistering attack on Mr Trump’s performance in office, Mr Morgan added: “All he’s done since the pandemic blew up is massively downplay the threat, blame everyone else but himself and his administration for America’s shocking death toll.”

However, the presenter recently told ITV News he “still considers Mr Trump a friend”.

Mr Morgan also hinted on three major reasons why Donald Trump could find it difficult to achieve a second term.

The broadcaster said “he’s been a disaster during the disaster”, although he did concede that when it comes to picking a winner on the day, “it’s become impossible to predict anything involving Donald Trump”.

The television presenter commented on how Mr Trump’s “macho-man trash talk” may give him a lead with male voters, but pointed out that many American women may choose to vote for Biden because “Trump doesn’t seem to either understand or care”.

He adds that women in the US are “fearful for their families, for their grandparents, their parents, their siblings, and especially their children”.

Mr Morgan also pointed out a second reason that makes the election difficult for Mr Trump is that no one in the US actively “hates” Joe Biden.

Writing in the Daily Mail, Mr Morgan said: “This election is far harder to read because nobody hates Joe Biden.”

Mr Morgan added: “He’s a nice, decent guy and everyone knows about the terrible family tragedies that have blighted his life.

“People may hate some of Biden’s policies, but they don’t hate him in the way they really personally detested Hillary.”

And, the Good Morning Britain host added Mr Trump is “arguably the least popular president in history”.

However, Mr Morgan considers Mr Trump is “also one of the most popular with those who support him”.

The third reason the US President may struggle to win the election is down to Mr Trump’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic, according to Mr Morgan.

The US coronavirus response is a bitter battleground in the election.

Mr Morgan wrote: “In short, he’s been a disaster during the disaster.

“Just as he was a disaster in the wake of George Floyd’s appalling killing at the knee of a callous police officer which prompted the biggest race protests since the ’60s.

“He was meant to tell them he understood their concerns and wanted to work with them to find solutions to the shocking police brutality towards their community which has stained the US for so long.”

But, Mr Morgan explains that Mr Trump “instead tweeted that ‘when the looting starts, the shooting starts’, pouring massively divisive and inflammatory fuel onto the raging fires”.
