The Queen sees Prince Harry as a "prodigal son" and will always welcome him back into the royal family "with open arms", an expert believes.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced in January last year that they would step back from senior positions in the Royal Family following talks at Sandringham between Harry, Prince Charles, Prince William and the Queen.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle left their positions in March and now live in Santa Barbara with son Archie, where the pair have built a life of their own since they decided to step back as senior members of the Royal Family.
And Ingrid Seward, author of Prince Philip Revealed: A Man of His Century, believes that despite the drama of it all, Queen Elizabeth II would still welcome the couple back into the royal fold "with open arms".
In an interview with Sky News, Majesty magazine Editor-in-Chief Ingrid Seward weighed in on Harry's royal exit — and how the Queen really feels about it behind-the-scenes.
"I think she's looking at Harry like the prodigal son, that he will come home and she will welcome him home with open arms," Seward explained, according to The Sun. "I think she's very loathed to criticize anything he's doing."

The prodigal son is a reference to Luke 15:11–32 in the bible, and tells the story of a boy who did everything wrong and then came back home to acceptance.
And, according to Seward, that "no criticism" policy would extend to other members of the royal family, as well as the press and the public.
"Privately, she might feel very sad about it but she will never ever comment on it, even probably to her family," Seward said. "She would keep her feelings very much to herself."
Echoing the claims that Prince Harry is the Queen's prodigal son, Ms Seward also told the Daily Star in October last year that Her Majesty believes "deeply" in forgiveness and "not holding grudges," and would likely "welcome" Prince Harry and Meghan back into "the Royal fold" if they wished.
She said: "The Queen is a very very forgiving person, she deeply believes in forgiveness and not holding grudges and I think she would be totally happy to accept Prince Harry and Meghan back in the Royal fold.
"But it isn’t going to happen, we know that now."
