A teenage boy has been shot dead by Russian police after stabbing an officer while shouting "Allahu Akbar".
The 16-year-old, armed with a knife and a Molotov cocktail, had also tried to set fire to a police station in Kukmor on Friday.
Russia's Investigative Committee said it was treating the incident as an attempted act of terrorism and had opened a criminal case.
The knifeman reportedly shouted the Arabic phrase for "God is great" and was heard to call officers "infidels" during the attack.
He stabbed the officer at least three times while he was being arrested. The victim was taken to hospital but his wounds are not thought to be life-threatening.

Kukmor is located in the region of Tatarstan, which has a Muslim-majority population.
The incident comes the day after a string of Islamic terrorist attacks targeting French citizens.
Three people were killed in a Roman Catholic church in Nice yesterday morning, while a second knifeman was shot dead in Avignon. Both suspects were heard to scream "Allahu Akbar".
A security guard was also stabbed at the French Consulate in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
It remains unknown if the three incidents were connected.
