Thousands sign up to niche Welsh language app for men with small penises

There is an app for most things nowadays, and David Minns believes he has created a specific niche in the world of dating sites.

The online dating entrepreneur from Chester has unveiled what he believes is the first Welsh language dating site, which is specifically aimed at men (and women) who possess or are attracted to, those who are less well endowed.

Dinky One was launched last March and has since attracted nearly 119,000 members worldwide.

Mr Minns, 47, decided to create a Welsh language version of the app to run alongside it after he realised a disproportionate number of users are from Wales.

He said the small penis dating site is especially popular in Swansea and Cardiff, where populations are larger.

“I’m aware there are dating sites for Welsh singles but I haven’t seen on where the landing platform is in Welsh, so it could well be a first,” he told NorthWalesLive.

“My grandmother was a Welsh speaker from Anglesey and while my mother speaks some Welsh, I had to outsource the translation to make sure it was all correct.”

Over the years, the father of two has built an online dating empire, focusing on niche areas within the dating world.

The former mechanical engineer made 2.5m keyboard impressions in developing an online platform that now hosts no fewer than 17 dating sites.

Several of the sites are catered to people who struggle with body insecurity, who may not want to be upfront with potential partners.

“It can be a potential issue several weeks or months down the line when partners may feel they have been duped,” Mr Minns said.

“By creating a niche site for like-minded people, everyone knows where they stand and there is much less anxiety involved.

“I created the Bald Dating site after hearing about the rise of ‘hatfishing’ – an increasing number of men were trying to conceal their hair loss by wearing hats or hoods on dating apps.

Some of his sites also cater to the gay community and fetish enthusiasts.

“The market is dominated by Tinder and Facebook dating,” he said.

“However these cover pretty much all the singles on the planet, so finding the right partner on these is almost impossible.”

The site has clocked up 1.5m logins in its first year alone, has registered 3.3m messages, and been translated into eight languages.

“When I first launched it I wasn’t sure if anyone would even join and upload a profile picture,” Mr Minns said. “But the response has been amazing.”

Thanks to the success of Dinky One, a sister site called Big One Dating, which caters for the opposite end of the spectrum, has been launched.
